Allianz

Bangkok’s biggest construction site goes global for Germany’s insurance giant

Gap Films searched around the world for a massive construction site which could stand for Allianz’s worldwide commitment to risk management. They were looking not only for big and imposing, but also for a unique and monumental building site. Finally Living Films found the perfect construction site. “Makkasan,” Bangkok’s new massive skytrain station linking the airport and railway has a wide arching glass roof set amidst Bangkok’s high-rise skyline.

Getting the shooting permissions at Makkasan, though, was not easy. Yet, in the eleventh hour before the PPM we finally managed to get all signatures necessary; a big success for our location manager Andrew Perry and his team.

As soon as the location was locked, we moved on to our next challenge – organizing the air-to-air helicopter shots required over the construction site. The storyboards asked for shots of an ‘executive’ helicopter approaching Makkasan and dropping our Allianz cast into their construction site. Flying permissions for a camera and a picture chopper over the metropolis, flight plans, building top landing zones and wescam were coordinated.

All talent for the spot were cast in Bangkok combining a mix of Asian and Western powerful executive types. The diversity of Bangkok’s international community made it possible once again.

In the end, when the helicopters circled overhead, cranes pivoted and trucks raced with clouds of billowing dust behind them, it all came together in a perfect alliance.
