Half-hour documentary film about the Lao National Circus

In 2004 we produced four different documentaries in the People's Republic of Laos for German TV. One of them was not only produced, but also written, directed and edited by Georg Mueller. The theme of the story was the Lao National Circus which during the Vietnam War had played an important role for the communist Pathet Lao in raising resistance against the Americans who were bombing the entire country.

Part of the footage was provided by the Lao National film archive. The circus director and the clown are the main protagonists of the film helping us to remember their common 36 years long history. Today, many years after the war is over, the Lao national Circus still fulfills an important role to the Lao government.
