Saman

Italian social campaign for Saatchi and Saatchi

This TV spot was created as part of an Italian social campaign for Saatchi and Saatchi. The spot is designed to raise awareness of the humanitarian work carried out by the non-profit organization "Saman", which helps severe drug addicts get off the streets and regain their lives.

In their metaphorical spot a man is dumped from a garbage truck into a vast expanse of garbage. He fights to free himself but sinks ever deeper into the refuse. In the very last moment, just as he is about to be swallowed up, a helping hand comes to his rescue.

The spot was shot at an actual and extremely foul rubbish dump just outside of Bangkok. Shooting in an actual giant garbage dump was challenging, to say the least. But the entire Thailand based cast and crew stepped up to the plate. In particular, our brave and extremely committed actor, British born, Bangkok based Shaun Delaney did an amazing job playing the drug addict and was more than willing to get down and dirty.

Previously, Living Films location database did not contain any garbage dump shots!. Interestingly, it turns out that it is almost impossible to find such a garbage dump in Europe these days (they are now all high-tech cemented disposal areas...) Thailand's very special garbage did the trick to create this powerful spot.
