McDonalds Orient Express
From Thailand to Amsterdam, take the Thai McTrain!
Having previously coordinated a Dutch Feature film (the Cave) and a Dutch made-for-TV movie (Champions of Tiger Mountain,) we were happy to make our first Dutch television commercial in Thailand. The new McDonald's spot "Orient express" was a collaboration between the Dutch Production Company CCCP, the Dutch Agency Result DDB and Living Films.
It was a simple brief: Giant crane shot of a very crowded Asian train station... the crowd climbs aboard a rustic Asian wooden train and sets off for....the Netherlands!
The spot was shot at a small train station in Nakhon Pathom, just outside of Bangkok, utilizing the entire length of a Thai train, four hundred and fifty extras; monks, businessmen, animals, vendors, goat herders, the works.
And we all rode off into the sunset on our train with a great shoot in the can!
