Simon

The most celebrated Dutch film in past years, Simon won 4 Golden Calf awards.

Living Films joined with Spaghetti Films to shoot the Thailand portion of Eddy Terstall's latest feature film from Oct. to Nov. 2003.

The filming was completed primarily on Koh Chang Island, a spectacular tropical island on the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand, just off the Cambodian border. As the first feature film to shoot on the island, the production utilized amazing jungle, beach and waterfall locations to tell the story of a Dutch man re-living his past as he confronts his own battle with cancer.

The film indulges in the unlikely friendship between Simon, a hash dealer and a typical Amsterdam heterosexual male and Camiel, a timid homosexual student of dentistry. A truly Terstallian comedy of manners in which socially relevant themes play an important role.

Living Films is proud to have coordinated the Thai portion of Simon which went on to win four Golden Calf awards at the Netherlands Film Festival: Best Director, Best Actor, Best Feature Film and the Golden Calf Audience Award. It was also chosen to represent the Netherlands for the Best Foreign Language Academy Award in the US in 2004.
