With Hope and Help Cambodia

Documentary film for the United Nations, shot throughout Cambodia.

"With Hope and Help Cambodia" is a strikingly positive look at the lives of people living with HIV and AIDS from various backgrounds and regions of Cambodia.

People living with HIV and AIDS in Cambodia face so many different challenges: They struggle to continue to work and support themselves, to maintain their health, and to cope with the challenges of discrimination.

In this film we find inspiring models of support and acceptance within Khmer society. From families, to employers, to Buddhist monks, we are immersed in uplifting examples of compassion in action. Through these examples of support, many of the myths and misunderstanding about HIV and AIDS are expelled.

Meanwhile, through the intimate stories of people living with HIV and AIDS, we are given an insight into their lives and struggles. Both sad, powerful and positive, these brave people share their lives, their hopes and their secrets of survival.

"With Hope and Help Cambodia" was funded by Unicef and UNAIDS. The film was aired simultaneously on three National Television stations in Cambodia in June, 2001.
