Hi, my name is Oliver Ackermann. I hail from Germany, but my roots are really here in the Kingdom of Siam. I spent a good portion of my youth in Bangkok. It was a different city back then. Anyway, my parents moved from country to country, but I could never forget Thailand and its people. I promised myself I would return, but that took awhile. In the meantime, I went to Hamburg University and did my masters in German Language and Literature as well as History. Then I decided TV/ film production was the thing for me. I started as a journalist, working my way up from reporting for a regional TV magazine to directing documentaries for different ARD stations and then also as an assistant director on the production of live TV shows. But still, there was something missing and I needed to get back to Thailand.

In 2001, I finally got my chance: a documentary shoot in Thailand. I decided to use this opportunity to find a way to settle here again. Finally I hooked up with Living Films and fruitful relationship developed. Several years ago I became a partner of Living Films. I also moved from documentaries into the mysterious realm of feature films and TV commercials, starting off as a transportation coordinator then production manager and line producer.

Thailand again has become my home. I am proud to be here and work with some of the most amazing professionals I have ever met. The best thing though is, as hard as we work, we never get too serious. Well, I do sometimes (I am German after all), but my Thai colleagues make sure I don't stay serious for long. Living Films is like a family. We all pull together to make things work and we do it Thai-style , professionally, but with a smile.
