About Us

The Living Films team is a nice mix of Western and Thai film professionals who have found our niche in high quality production services in Asia. Our entire team is bi-lingual (or tri-lingual in many cases,) and we complement each other with a strong combination of organizational know-how and creativity.

While building our reputation as an honest, family style production house, we have gained huge experience in the nuts and bolts of filmmaking in Thailand and South East Asia.

From budgeting to shooting to post production, we bring enthusiasm and experience to the table. We are open to any size or type of project and we are happy to give advice on shooting in Thailand, feasibility, budget and approach.

Location manager/ Art director

G’day, as we say where I come from. Well, I’ve been here for 10 years now and the accent is starting to slip, so I’m just trying to keep my hand in.

I’m originally from Australia, Northern Victoria to be precise, but I spent many years in Melbourne. I first came to Thailand 15 years ago, twice in one year, and couldn’t find anything not to like; food, people, weather...  all good and agreeable. I made some steadfast friends during that time and longed to come back. I spent a few years travelling to further destinations but always with a return to Thailand on the cards. When I did finally return, 5 years later, I met up with old friends I was surprised that they had begun a film company up in the North, as I was also working in film in Australia.

Come on up and work with us, said one.

I thought about it ... 15 seconds or so, jumped on the first plane home, packed my life and lobbed on the front step of Living Films one month later. Been here ever since. I have a lovely wife and beautiful daughter and live in a small village outside Chiang Mai not too far removed from where I was born. Wouldn’t change it for the world.

What can I say about the job? I’ve been everything from  runner to  A.D, and in production,  but I finally settled on the two departments that give me the most pleasure:  i.e. get me out of the office the most. Locations provides me with logistical challenges that I enjoy with a bonus that I get to go and explore absolutely everywhere in this magnificent and wildly varied country that I call home. As art director, I have the opportunity to work with dedicated and talented Thai crew, and also get to relieve my obsession for moving everything 1 inch to the left. I really don’t think I could choose between one or the other. Maybe I’d just move them 2 inches to the right.
