Special Effects

In terms of mechanical effects and pyrotechnics, there are some very experienced crew based in Thailand, however, depending on the exact requirements of the job, some materials may need to be sourced overseas. For example, we can source a rough grade of black powder in Thailand for explosions or gun powder. However, igniters are hard to come by, and we usually will order through Del a Mare, or a similar company in Los Angeles or London. If a company knows the proper steps to importing explosive materials, it is not that hard to get the permissions.

Certain other effects materials, like cork, will often have to be sources outside of Thailand as well. However, in terms of special effects equipment, smokers, rain towers (or spinning heads) fire bars, etc. can all be sourced in Thailand through freelance special effects coordinators and technicians.
