Feature Film Shooting Logistics
Translation
There are many instances throughout a feature film production in Thailand in which we need to use translation services. Sometimes the translation can be done by one of our own freelance crew and sometimes we will use an outside and certified translation service (for instance, for legal documents).
The first translation necessary on any project is to have the script translated into Thai for the Thai Film Permit. In 2006, the Thai Film Board made a new rule that requires each feature film to present the resume or CV of the person who will be translating the script. We assume that the Thai Film Board was getting some really poorly translated scripts! In any case, we have several translators we love to use who understand the subtleties of translating an English movie script into Thai.
The other most common type of translation on productions is legal translation of contracts and release forms back and forth between Thai and English.
