Stunts

Asian stuntmen are notorious for being willing to beat themselves up. They take the concept of ‘macho' to a new level showing no fear during almost any type of daredevil stunt. Asian stunt men are also famous for the high flying wire work as typified in the classic Hong Kong and Chinese action films. Many of the best Thai stuntmen are trained in Hong Kong and often countdown to their stunts in Chinese instead of Thai.

Many of the best stunt coordinators and stunt men have worked on dozens of Hollywood pictures over the years. There is also a nice group of Caucasian stunt men now based in Bangkok who can audition for key stunt double parts on Western films. Caucasian stunt women are much harder to find here, however, and we have often doubled women with small but talented Thai stunt men (much to their chagrin!).

Thailand also has a system of stunt adjustments for particularly dangerous stunts, and although there are no exact guidelines, these adjustments are always negotiated before the stunt is performed as in the West. It also must be noted that the stunt adjustment rates in Thailand are also much less than one would expect to pay for a similar stunt in the West.
