Feature Film Shooting Logistics

Shipping

The Thai Customs Department is quite strict with shipping paperwork, and the smallest of mistakes can delay shipments from being cleared. In order to avoid lost time and extra cost, all shipping paperwork should be organized ahead of time and sent to us for review.

There are three ways to bring equipment and supplies into Thailand. 1) Use an ATA Carnet; an international agreement between countries for the temporary import of materials. This is by far the easiest way to import materials that will be exported again at the end of the production. 2) Create a temporary import bond: this is a bond placed on goods and materials that will be returned three months after the goods are shipped out of Thailand at the end of the production. 3) Pay import duties on the materials upon arrival. This is often unavoidable for any type of expendables that need to be imported for the show.

If film equipment is imported into Thailand using an ATA carnet and the paperwork is pre-cleared, the shipment can be cleared in just a matter of minutes.
