Overtime

There are no unions in Thailand. Furthermore, technical crew attached to different equipment companies tend to have different overtime rules. Generally speaking most crew besides camera, grip and lighting do not get overtime in Thailand.

In Thailand the standard system is for rented equipment to come with crew. Thus, freelance technical crew can generally only be had for key positions (directors of photography, operators, key grips, gaffers and perhaps dolly grips.)

Despite the fact that the different equipment rental houses have different overtime rules, we're happy to lay out the standard rules as long as you realize that some companies may differ slightly from this: OT is based on a 12 hour work day, which includes time taken for lunch. After 12 hours some companies charge 1.5 times per hour and many companies charge double time per hour after. Shooting within a certain radius (approximately 1 hour) from home (or hotel for location shooting) will be charged call to wrap (or when the tail gate is raised on the truck for some tech crew.) Shooting outside that radius is generally charged portal to portal.

Turnaround time required is generally 10 hours. Turnaround days (when the company switches from shooting nights to shooting days) are generally thought of as paid days of work.
