Casting

There is currently a far greater diversity of talent in Thailand than there ever was before. There are many Western actors based in Bangkok now as well as other Asian nationalities. Over the last few years, English speaking Thai cast are more prevalent as well. This is all good news for international films looking to shoot in Thailand.

Nonetheless, there are still some casting hurdles in Thailand. It is rare for actors to employ agents and there are no standard rates or payment scales in place. Casting departments generally take more time hitting the pavement and tracking down actors for auditions than in the West. It is not as simple as announcing a casting call. Thai actors tend to work on several projects simultaneously and the answer to the question "are you available" is often unclear.

Despite all of that, the quality of talent found in Thailand is improving by the day and standard casting procedures are bound to follow soon.
