Feature Film Shooting Logistics

Armory

Living Films has a good relationship with the Thai military and can rent weapons for filming from them. These weapons however are not properly outfitted for shooting blanks. They are also prone to jam. They work very well as background prop weapons though that don't need to fire.

The majority of available in-country weapons are also somewhat antiquated. When it comes to shooting movies set during the Vietnam era, this is a real bonus, as you can find almost any kind of weapon from that era. However, if modern high-tech weaponry is needed, then we usually suggest getting weapons out of Australian or New Zealand. We have worked several times with a very good Kiwi armorer who has access to most types of guns and other weapons and can make recommendations for specific models after reading the script.

Living Films is well acquainted with the procedure for obtaining import licenses for weapons and explosives. We also have a nice connection in the Government who can expedite the process and we usually we can get our weapons and/or explosives import permission within two weeks (it is meant to take one month.)
