Happy Healthy Wise

Humanitarian documentary about health care in Laos

Back to Text

This film produced for the Danish Red Cross described the implementation of a primary health care program in remote areas of Northern Laos.

Most hill-tribe people live up in the mountains or in remote villages along the banks of the Ou river. They have little or no access to health care, education or possibilities of earning an income. Consequently, the population suffers from a variety of health related problems.

The film, funded through the Danish Red Cross in cooperation with the Lao Red Cross was shot on Betacam SP and edited at Living Films. One of the challenges was to work with interviews in local dialects and produce subtitled language versions in Lao, Danish and English language.
