The famous fifth season of original American reality show.
Back to TextLiving Films was the sole coordinating Production Service Company for the shooting of the full fifth season of Survivor (US) in Thailand from March to August 2002.
After scouting many countries, CBS executives finally decided upon Thailand for the fifth series. Living Films helped CBS and the Survivor crew in all aspects of their preparations and shooting in Thailand. This included location scouting, getting all permits to shoot in the National Marine Park, acquiring helicopters, equipment, all local Thai crew (over 200 local crew,) catering, marine coordination, customs & temporary import bonds, accounting, importation of communication equipment, location agreements, transportation, and everything else that went into the extensive preparations to shoot the fifth season of Survivor.
The show was filmed on Koh Tarutao in Southern Thailand and the Thai and American crew lived on the island in tents for many months. The logistics of production were immense. There were 18 camera teams shooting 24 hours. The island did not have any infrastructure whatsoever and power for the base camp was generated through the use of solar panels and wind turbines. Living Films coordinated all permissions with the local and regional government and every effort was made to leave as small a footprint on the island as possible.
After filming was completed successfully in Thailand, the fifth series aired shortly thereafter on television channels around the world. In the United States alone, 21 million viewers tuned-in. Survivor has since gone on to record 15 series.
