ABG 2

Aditya Birla returns for a second helping

Back to Text

After the success of the first ABG commercial, which we had shot earlier in the same year the Indian investment giant Aditya Birla decided they wanted another TVC titled "Harmony in Diversity". While the spot was to follow the style of the first one, this time we were to work under much greater budget restrictions.

The Australian director Daniel Pront created a concept for the seven scenarios. Each one was set in a different locations - some of them in the city others in nature. We needed a huge quarry, a secluded jungle river, a quiet camp site under a starry sky, a giant parking lot for car stunts, a wide open architectural space, a futuristic lab, a super market set and tall windows that opened onto the skyline of a modern metropolis. Once we had found the places that had that special extras that this TVC needed, we created a very dense but workable shooting schedule, which had us work two days in Bangkok and one day in the surrounding provinces.Good logistics and an AD who always had one eye on the clock helped us pull it all off.

Boontawee Taweepasas, the art director on this job, needs a special thanks. With an extremely small crew he managed to be everywhere at the same time and have everything ready when we needed it. With his very restrictive budget he managed to do magic, creating sets that did justice to the directors vision.
